Nestled in the heart of Easton, Pennsylvania, the State Theatre Center for the Arts stands as a testament to the city’s rich cultural heritage. Originally constructed in 1873 as the Northampton National Bank, the building underwent a transformation in 1910, becoming the Neumeyer Theatre, a vaudeville house that brought entertainment to the local community. By 1926, renowned architect William H. Lee reimagined the space, drawing inspiration from Spanish architecture and Florence’s Davanzati Palace, resulting in the opulent Beaux-Arts design that graces the theater today.

Throughout the decades, the State Theatre evolved with the times, transitioning from silent films to “talkies,” and hosting a variety of performances. However, by the 1970s, the theater faced decline, leading to its closure and potential demolition.
